A Young Apprenticeship is a new route at Key Stage 4 which allows motivated and able pupils to study for vocational qualifications not just in the classroom but in college, with Work Based Learning (WBL) Providers and in the workplace too.
Pupils are based in school and follow the core National Curriculum subjects, but for two days a week (or equivalent) they also work towards nationally recognised vocational qualifications delivered by their local Young Apprenticeship Partnership.
The Young Apprenticeship Partnership was first formed in May 2005, as a result of school engagement activity by CfL and previous contracts for delivery to young people in the 14-16 age range through Hull Area Wide Inspection (HAWI) funds and ESF/LSC co-financed funding.
Delivery of Cohort 2 commenced in September 2005 through to July 2007 with 27 pupils participating in Business Administration from Hull secondary schools. The qualifications delivered as part of this Young Apprenticeship programme were:

24 of the 27 Young Apprentices retained on the programme for the full two years and achieved their full programme content. The Young Apprentices were invited to an awards ceremony at the end of the programme to celebrate their achievement.
Delivery of Cohort 4 commenced in September 2007 with 43 pupils in Business Administration and 36 pupils in Hairdressing. The delivery partners included in the Young Apprenticeship for the two areas of learning for Cohort 4 are:
